The decision to create the blog, MindFUlly Well Rooted developed from a high school dream. A friend of mine from high school and I had always talked about plans to open a non-profit for pregnant women of color Montgomery, AL. Eventually that dream faded for her after we graduated from high school. She went off…

It is estimated that 70 to 80% of all women will d It is estimated that 70 to 80% of all women will develop fibroids in their lifetime. I am one of those women.

I remember when my OB/Gyn told me she found two fibroids in my uterus in January 2021. My heart skipped a beat because so many black women in my family have experienced issues with fibroids. Within minutes of hearing the news, negative thoughts came racing through my head and anxiety overtook me because I knew how the women of my family had to be subjected to uterine removal.

As a matter of fact, uterine fibroids are known to disproportionately impact black women, who develop fibroids earlier in life and tend to experience larger and more numerous fibroids that cause more severe symptoms. Many women suffer for years before being properly diagnosed and are forced to wait for years as doctors are biased toward performing hysterectomies.

Thankfully that is not going to be my story. My ob/gyn has implemented a non-invasive treatment plan for my fibroids. I am extremely grateful for this because I intend to grow my family more!

However, many women are not aware of noninvasive treatment options for fibroids - hysterectomy and myomectomy are still the most common surgical procedures for uterine fibroids. To help solve part of this crisis, we have to hold United Healthcare accountable. Please repost this to your stories to force UHC to stop limiting options for fibroid treatment for millions of women. Tell @unitedhealthcare why it is critical that they cover and provide more treatment options, including RFA for uterine fibroids.

Now meet me in the comments to let me know how you will demand an end to this needless suffering of women.

I don’t have a word for the year. What I do have I don’t have a word for the year. What I do have for the year is my ability to wait on the Lord.✝️

Throughout much of last year, I was tested and tried on a magnitude of things. My self-identity. My career as a blogger and creator. My responsibility as a mom. My tense marriage. My friendships. (Check me out on YouTube for more details about it all.)

It seemed like I was under fire by the enemy times 1000. I got angry at God because I thought I would and should be at a certain place in my life.

It wasn’t until I went through a perspective changing mentorship program and talked to a close friend of mine who recently got his dream job after 7 years, that I realized I may not be ready for what I think I deserve. And That’s okay because I do not want to take on anything God knows I am not ready for. Plus It’s not that God doesn’t want me to have those things. It’s a matter that God has other mind blowing divine plans for me.

So instead of a word, I’ll be focused on an action.

WAITING.

Simply waiting on the Lord’s will to be done in all areas of my life and trusting the God of making the impossible possible all the way through it.

Are you focused on a word or an action for the year?!?!
